The Art of Massage

The Best Massage For You

While on my table, you can expect several modalities (techniques) to be incorporated and combined in order to create the best massage for your body and to meet your needs. I will begin with relaxation techniques first and foremost and, perhaps, a few drops of Plant Prana Essential Oils, if you wish, to quiet your busy mind. Almost everybody (and every body) desires a bit of deep tissue in their "trouble spot" areas, and I like to use shiatsu stretch to release your shoulders, hips, and that nagging lower back. You may not know the feeling, but I will perform myofascial release in some areas in order for a greater release and deep tissue techniques to be more effective.

At the end of your massage, you may want a Sea Salt Scrub on your back, which not only removes dead skin, but feels amazing and is a nice little treat.

Kriya

Kriya Massage is the foundation in which I was trained as a therapist. Kriya Massage is defined as "a dance, integrating the parts of the body into the whole." The only way I know to describe Kriya Massage is "intention and flow." Other modalities are not incorporated during this treatment, as the importance here is generating a "flow of movement" in order to keep a connection and the energy moving. There is nothing like the experience of a Kriya Massage. Although you may have never heard of Kriya Massage, as most have not, it is not a "fluffy" massage, and people who leave my treatment room express the desire to stay right where they are for the next few hours. They have used terms "next level" and "blissed out." All report having an increase in their energy level as they come back into their body, and have an amazing night of sleep that same evening.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage is often requested in order to receive a massage which isn't "fluffy." My philosophy for deep tissue work is such that you should be able to relax and breathe while I am digging into your muscles. When you are relaxed, I am better able to get into the muscle tissue and the results are, therefore, more effective. My intention for deep tissue work is to take you just to the point of it "hurts so good." Again, this means you are able to relax and breathe. You may need to concentrate on your breathing, but the rest of your body is able to remain relaxed. The last thing I want with your massage is for you to walk out feeling like you need a massage because of being stressed out with deep work. As well, you should not have bruising from the deep tissue work I've performed.

Sports

Designed with the athlete in mind: incorporating deep tissue, shiatsu stretch, and often Whole Body View techniques to release tight and over-worked muscles. I have golf and tennis pros coming to me, as well as triathletes and ballerinas ~ all of them love me for the overall experience of getting into the deeper areas which affect them from their sport.

Myofascial Release

To understand Myofascial Release and why it works, it is helpful to understand a little about fascia. Fascia is a thin tissue which encapsulates every muscle and every fiber within each muscle. When you pull the skin away from chicken meat, that white sheet of fiber is fascia. When muscle fibers are injured, the fiber and the fascia which surrounds the muscle become short and tight; causing tortions in the body. This uneven stress can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, as well as causing pain and a variety of other symptoms. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is the natural function of the lymphatic system, which is an essential part of immunity. If this function isn't working properly, it can cause a build-up of fluid in tissues as well as more serious medical problems like Lymphagitis and Lymphoma. Lymphatic Massage is a very gentle brush-stroke style of bodywork, directing the flow of inflammation to the lymphnodes. Very light pressure is used to "pump" the lymph, stimulating them to move and release the build up of toxic fluids.

Cranial-Sacral

Cranial-Sacral, also known as Cranio-Sacral Massage, is a gentle alternative method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the cranio - sacral system by using a gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the head, spinal column, sacrum, and the underlying structures. This type of massage employs a very light touch and uses specifically designed techniques to "unwind" and release restrictions and compression in these areas.

Medical

With a brief consultation and looking at the structure of your body to determine where you are out of alignment, I then use techniques to release the areas of structural mis-proportion.

Pre-Natal

Moms LOVE my pre-natal table because there is plenty of room for boobs and baby!! :) A very light massage is performed in order to release the stress and fatigue of carrying an additional 10 or 20 pounds. Some Deep Tissue may be incorporated into the massage treatment. However, the predominant intention of this massage is pure nurturing of the muscles, relieving back pressure and reducing inflammation through some lymphatic touch.

WholeBody View

The WholeBody View is a hands-on bodywork approach to movement therapy that utilizes gentle invitational movements. These techniques facilitate profound relaxation while releasing deep-seated restrictive body-mind patterns. Most recipients report an immediate increase in neuromuscular mobility and a return towards one’s optimal performance.

  • I saw Diane for the first time on a recent trip to Sarasota. It was a revelation. A healing experience and a restoration. Her energy is amazing. Cannot recommend her more highly. If you want to restore and relax and heal this is the place to go.

  • She's the best! I have seen Diane every Friday for 90 minutes for nearly 12 years now. That says it all!!

    R. J. Steiner
    Chicago, IL & Sarasota, FL

  • A unique massage experience, Diane has extraordinarily sensitive fingers with which she found those places where I unconsciously carry tension. Using light stretching and joint movements, combined with continuous massage of affected muscles, she relieved various pains and tightness's I typically ignore. This she did without asking me where to she would like me to focus.

    James Wright

  • I have had numerous 2-hour deep tissue massages with Diane and all were superb. As I am getting older my exercise routine is taking more of a toll on my body, but Diane's skills are keeping me going strong! The finest massage I have ever had.

    Rob
    Sarasota, FL

  • I am an avid squash player and have played football, basketball, participated in field events, and played many years of club tennis. Ms. Lane has kept me showing up three times a week to play squash when many friends have fallen by the wayside due to hip and knee injuries and repairs (one friend has had all four joints replaced). I take no medications, play pain-free, and credit it all to the superb massage therapy I have received over the years from Ms. Lane. I recommend her without reservation.

  • My husband and I both have been getting regular massages from Diane for seven or eight years now. We've had a number of masseuses over the years, and we both feel Diane offers the best experience and outcomes. It's no surprise to us that Diane has been named top masseuse in Sarasota.

    Meredith Rutter

  • If I could give 6 stars I would. I was in town for work and was looking for a good massage after a long week. She was a quick walk from the Ritz to downtown on Main Street. Her style of great deep pressure and stretching was perfect. The hot towels at the end are a nice touch! Go see Diane, you won't regret it.

    Greg G.

  • You never know what you're going to get when you book a new therapist so I didn't have big expectations when I booked with Diane while I was in Sarasota for vacation. She was amazing! And quickly/intuitively figured out just what my body needed! Would see her all the time if I could...

    Jamie Barrutia

  • My massage was nothing less than amazing and I cannot imagine ever going to see someone else now. I was totally relaxed with you - not easy to get me there. You're about as good as one can get.
