The Best Massage For You
While on my table, you can expect several modalities (techniques) to be incorporated and combined in order to create the best massage for your body and to meet your needs. I will begin with relaxation techniques first and foremost and, perhaps, a few drops of Plant Prana Essential Oils, if you wish, to quiet your busy mind. Almost everybody (and every body) desires a bit of deep tissue in their "trouble spot" areas, and I like to use shiatsu stretch to release your shoulders, hips, and that nagging lower back. You may not know the feeling, but I will perform myofascial release in some areas in order for a greater release and deep tissue techniques to be more effective.
At the end of your massage, you may want a Sea Salt Scrub on your back, which not only removes dead skin, but feels amazing and is a nice little treat.

Kriya
I am trained in Kriya Massage, which is best defined as "intuitively guided, holistic integration of parts of the body into the whole." Your experience will be that of complete relaxation and comfortably firm pressure while addressing your trouble spots.
With 40 years of receiving massage, I consider myself the most thorough and consistent massage therapist in the field and this is why: I listen. With 23 years experience, I listen to what you are looking for in your massage to determine what your body needs and which modalities will be best suited for your bodywork session. I've been trained and practicing everything from Lymphatic Drainage to Deep Tissue for over two decades.
Your session will be therapeutically addressed by incorporating modalities of myofascial release, deep tissue, Shiatsu~stretch, and when appropriate and/or as requested, your session may include the Whole Body View techniques, cupping, or Gua sha. I massage the stomach and the glutes...while keeping your body appropriately draped. Reiki ~ energy work ~ and steamed towels complete your session.
Since 2001, people have said to me their Kriya massage is the best massage they have ever received. .

Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage is often requested in order to receive a massage which isn't "fluffy." My philosophy for deep tissue work is such that you should be able to relax and breathe while I am digging into your muscles. When you are relaxed, I am better able to get into the muscle tissue and the results are, therefore, more effective. My intention for deep tissue work is to take you just to the point of it "hurts so good." Again, this means you are able to relax and breathe. You may need to concentrate on your breathing, but the rest of your body is able to remain relaxed. The last thing I want with your massage is for you to walk out feeling like you need a massage because of being stressed out with deep work. As well, you should not have bruising from the deep tissue work I've performed.

Sports
Designed with the athlete in mind: incorporating deep tissue, shiatsu stretch, and often Whole Body View techniques to release tight and over-worked muscles. I have golf and tennis pros coming to me, as well as triathletes and ballerinas ~ all of them love me for the overall experience of getting into the deeper areas which affect them from their sport.

Myofascial Release
To understand Myofascial Release and why it works, it is helpful to understand a little about fascia. Fascia is a thin tissue which encapsulates every muscle and every fiber within each muscle. When you pull the skin away from chicken meat, that white sheet of fiber is fascia. When muscle fibers are injured, the fiber and the fascia which surrounds the muscle become short and tight; causing tortions in the body. This uneven stress can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, as well as causing pain and a variety of other symptoms. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia.

Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage is the natural function of the lymphatic system, which is an essential part of immunity. If this function isn't working properly, it can cause a build-up of fluid in tissues as well as more serious medical problems like Lymphagitis and Lymphoma. Lymphatic Massage is a very gentle brush-stroke style of bodywork, directing the flow of inflammation to the lymphnodes. Very light pressure is used to "pump" the lymph, stimulating them to move and release the build up of toxic fluids.

Cranial-Sacral
Cranial-Sacral, also known as Cranio-Sacral Massage, is a gentle alternative method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the cranio - sacral system by using a gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the head, spinal column, sacrum, and the underlying structures. This type of massage employs a very light touch and uses specifically designed techniques to "unwind" and release restrictions and compression in these areas.

Medical
With a brief consultation and looking at the structure of your body to determine where you are out of alignment, I then use techniques to release the areas of structural mis-proportion.

Pre-Natal
Moms LOVE my pre-natal table because there is plenty of room for boobs and baby!! :) A very light massage is performed in order to release the stress and fatigue of carrying an additional 10 or 20 pounds. Some Deep Tissue may be incorporated into the massage treatment. However, the predominant intention of this massage is pure nurturing of the muscles, relieving back pressure and reducing inflammation through some lymphatic touch.

WholeBody View
The WholeBody View is a hands-on bodywork approach to movement therapy that utilizes gentle invitational movements. These techniques facilitate profound relaxation while releasing deep-seated restrictive body-mind patterns. Most recipients report an immediate increase in neuromuscular mobility and a return towards one’s optimal performance.

Couples
Your loved one and you receive your massage at the same time and in the same room. I bring in another massage therapist who has massaged me and is worthy of massaging you; my expectations of them are very high, so you will both receive a great massage. As with every massage session, we have a brief consultation about your health issues and what you desire from your massage on this day.
One-hour or ninety-minutes sessions are an option for you. At this time, couples massage for one hour is $290 and 90 minutes sessions are $400.
For something a little different, have look at my Couples Massage Class page to explore the option of learning to massage each other. If this sounds like something for you, I would be delighted to discuss your questions or concerns at your earliest convenience.
